Training aggressive pet dogs is often difficult though it can be achieved.

Dogs can become naturally aggressive and improving such behaviors is very important in order to avoid them ruling you. Even though generally there are expert dog trainers who can assist you with this particular problem, it's not however impossible to train your pet dog all on your own.

In order to get started improving the aggressive behavior of your family pet, below are great tips which you can begin with to guide you in training aggressive pet dogs.

1. You should definitely spay or neuter your family pet dog. Spaying or neutering is an excellent method to improve the natural aggressiveness in dogs particularly if they are in heat. In order to avoid this main problem and also to spare your current friends and neighbors from this aggressive behavior of your pets specially during mating, have your four-legged friend spayed or neutered.

2. Most dogs are usually territorial, and they possess a natural habit of marking their areas and become aggressive to other creatures and even to people as soon as they sense this territory is compromised. Additionally, this aggressiveness can also be remedied with suitable education. Proper dog obedience training in addition to training your pet dog to protection work is usually effective in defeating this kind of aggression. In training aggressive pet dogs, it's essential to establish that you're the boss and make certain that your doggy follows your instructions as well as give in to your authority, however this also needs to be performed with gentle authority.

3. Expose your dog to various other dogs and also to people. Mingling your pet dog will help him / her adjust as well as be accustomed to being around with people along with other dogs. Walking your pet in the park is usually a great way to expose them to other dogs and to provide physical exercise as well. This is actually most effectively achieved when they're still young puppies. On the other hand, in case you are working with mature dogs which have aggressive behavior, you need to be very careful in bringing them to recreational areas and exposing them to people. Make certain you can handle him / her prior to taking him / her out there for walks.

Take more time coming in physical contact with your pet. This should help him / her get accustomed to getting handled, however, be sure also to touch him / her softly while not making him / her feel uncomfortable.

4. Praise your pet any time he / she follows orders. This is actually one fundamental principle not simply in training aggressive pet dogs but when training any dog. However, whenever giving treats, make certain also that you're not overdoing it. Whenever he / she acts up, don't discipline nor harm her. Harming your dog can also lead her to become even more aggressive.

Before you begin training aggressive puppies, it's useful to find out the causes for her aggression. Sometimes, aggressive behavior in animals might suggest hidden health-related issues, therefore it is prudent to go to a vet that will help you figure out any underlying reasons.

I am thinking of trying the clicker method. How long does it take?

I just got a 9-10 week old puppy and I'm just wondering if I should crate train him and what the benefits are? as of right now he doesn't like his crate and cries as soon as the door shuts. I've put his food and treats in there along with his bed to help him get used to it, but it doesn't seem to be helping.
he's a boxer/lab mix if that makes a difference.
