I have a chihuahua puppy. She's 11 weeks and weighs 1.1 pounds. I would like to crate train her, but am having difficulty choosing a crate for her. From what I understand she needs a crate big enough to comfortably lie down, stand, and turn around in. I have a small cat crate. It seems very big for her, but i cannot find a smaller one. Any suggestions?

I recently brought home a four month old Shih Tzu puppy from a pet store. I am having a very difficult time housebreaking her because she has been allowed to eliminate in her crate for so long. She refuses to eliminate outside but goes within minutes of coming in regardless of the amount of time spent in the yard. I wanted to try to crate train her, but she has no problem eliminating in it. Does anyone have any advice?

my wife and i just got a 9 month old puppy from a shelter and we are trying to crate train him. i understand we are to leave him in the crate no matter what (crying and barking). but should we put all 3 of the dogs in their crates at the same time so the puppy understands that its not a punishment???

Hi there, we have two adult dogs and will be adding a puppy to the family. The older dogs were both crate trained, but due to lack of space once they were about a year an a half we had to allow them free roam of the house (no problems)
We want to crate train the puppy, but three crates just does not work for us. How difficult will this be to crate train the puppy with the other two running free? Read responses / comments below...
