We only want the puppy in it for lyk 4 hours, and we don't want it to live in there forever. or is crate training better.

I'm crate training my puppy and he's super super snuggly. I know that when you first get it home, you're supposed to bring the crate in the room with you at night and then slowly move it elsewhere. The puppy freaks out everytime the crate door is closed, even if he is right next to my bed and I'm talking to him. I tried squirting a little water at him, but it literally doesn't affect him at all. He just ends up soaked and barking and whining. Please help! My other puppy is crate trained and it's wonderful, but she doesn't seem to be influencing this new puppy at all. We've had him almost 2 weeks. Thanks for your suggestions.

We just got an 11 week old puppy and I really need to know the quickest and best methods for housebreaking him. Please help!
He is a Rednose pitbull, he's a really beautifu, sweet dog. Is crate training
(which we are planning to do) part of the housebreaking process? I am new to this, when last I had a dog this wasn't known to be good for a dog as it is now.

We plan on crate training when he gets here. (he's only 5 weeks and not ready to come home) but I was wondering if I could also use the puppy pads. or would that be too confusing?

I'm definitely going to crate train but I'm considering the pads also cause I know I can't keep my eye on him 24-7. so if he does accidentally go I wanted to train him to go on the pads just in case. is that okay? Read comments and answers below...

I've had my puppy for almost a month, 50% of the tme he goes wherever he pleases, go i decided to try crate training... will it be extra hard to get him to use this method since he is so accustomed to doing what he wants?

I am housebreaking a 12 week old puppy using the crate training method. He hates the crate and immediately starts whining, worrying, clawing at the door, etc. He is normally a very calm and contented puppy. What can I do to make this more acceptable to him, both for housebreaking and for other times he needs to be crated? We have not put him in the crate for more than a few minutes at this point, because he is so incensed about it! If it has any bearing on your answer, he's a cockapoo.

I have read about crate training a lot and they say that puppies eventually LOVE their crate. My 8 week old puppy goes to bed well but between 4:30 and 5:30am he needs to go to the bathroom. The problem is he does not want to go back in after that and he cries and howls for about 45 minutes.
